The Genuine SPF® T-Shirt
   
In 2005, The Solar Protective Factory created the SPF® T-Shirt. Our intention was to create an affordable alternative to the other available expensive sun-protection apparel without sacrificing anything in the way of blocking the sun's dangerous UV rays.
Our mission is to try to provide sun-protecive clothing to any and every one who wants its -- AFFORDABLY. We are skin cancers surivors. And we see the same startling data on the skin cancer epidemic as well. So we decided to try to do something about it. Not by making expensive apparel that only a few could afford (or want to wear), but by taking the most basic garmet in most peoples dresser, making it into a coat of armor against the sun's UV rays and most importantly, making it affordable for everyone.
With that goal in mind, we selected the standard 100% cotton t-shirt as our medium. For generations, the 100% cotton T has been the summer shirt of choice for millions of Americans (1.65 billion cotton t-shirts were sold in the US last year!). Why? It's lightweight, comfortable and comes in endless varieties. Yet most cotton T's don't even provide the most basic sun-protection against the sun's dangerous UV rays. In an independent test sponsored by SPF®, lab results showed that 2 of the leading white, 100% cotton t-shirts failed to meet the minimum UV protection standards recommended by the American Cancer Society -- that the t-shirt should provide at least the equivalent of SPF 15 (check out the results here).
An ordinary 100% cotton t-shirt has an average SPF equivalency of 4-10. SPF® T-Shirt's are the only 100% cotton t-shirts on the market to offer "Excellent UV Protection", an UPF of 50+, the highest possible UV rating for all 35 colors. The UPF rating is the UV rating for clothing; a UPF of 40-50+ is equivalent to SPF 30+ (the highest possible sunscreen rating). How do we make SPF® T-Shirt's work? Our unique combination of weight, construction, finishing treatments and UV treatment are the components that make our t-shirts top-rated sun protective while other ordinary t-shirts fail.
In addition to amazing UV protection, SPF® T-Shirt's, some at UNDER $12.00, are available at little or no extra cost when compared to the ordinary cotton t-shirt. Most other companies' sun-protective shirts start at $50, some go up as high as $100. They can also be uncomfortable to wear and goofy looking. Our 100% cotton SPF® T-Shirts are cool and casual, come in OVER 35 COLORS, in sizes from XS to 6XL, and in ladie's and kid's sizes, short sleeve and long sleeve and a premium cotton style. No other company has combined the highest level of UV protection with 100% cotton at this almost unbelievable price.
